While I was doing a mock draft on ESPN, making great picks like usual, I did my everyday thing of scowering the
sports web for moves the O's and everyone did. After going through a number of sites, I became speechless.
Blasphemy, I thought. No moves for dem Orioles agian... Another let down at the trade deadine. Yes, I know the
O's have my some great trades, in particular the last two involving Bedard and Tejada, and yes I know they have
made some great executive moves like adding Andy McPhail and retaining Dave Trembley, which I believe will be
a key component moving forward. But not moving our key "pieces" before the deadline could hurt them, not for
now of course though. Not trading guys like Sherrill, Roberts, and Huff, when they are all having top-notch
seasons seemed to be rather interesting to everyone I have talked too. Trying to rebuild and gather up
prospects from other teams is what I thought the whole plan was. Not to keep guys in hopes of scoring a .500
record. That day will come. But not trading a guy that has been a set-up man and transformed him into a 30 saves
guy, or not trading a guy that is having the best start to a season he's ever had and always heats up after the
All-Star break. It just doesn't make any sense to me. How bout you?
