Robinson Cano

me run of the playoffs tonight, giving him an edge over teammate Hamilton and Yankee second baseman Robinson Cano, both of whom have hit four.  (Over in the Senior Circuit, Ross also has four but no one else has more than two.)

How about Robinson Cano?  The Yankees’ second baseman is leading the big leagues with a .373 batting average, has 43 RBIs (third in the majors) and 30 extra-base hits (tied for fifth in the bigs), and is slugging an outstanding .632 (also third in MLB).  With Mark Teixeira struggling at the plate with a .220 batting average and A-Rod off to a slower start than usual, Cano has been the heart of the Yankee lineup, helping the Bronx Bombers lead the majors with a .288 average.  (The next-closest is Kansas City at .276.)

ashman and Steinbrenner have turned a blind eye at their one and only escape route.

I just traded Robinson Cano in my fantasy league. I'm already regretting it. So far, his 'roided-out numbers include: .381/5/16/.418/1.037. Yankees fans, is this for real? A young farm-hand making it in your starting line-up? Not only is he "making it," Cano leads the team so far in AVG, HR, and RBI. Well, he must be the only one. Actually, he's not. Let's check another, Melky Cabrera...surely he's not performing. Wait a minute...according to ESPN, Melky's hitting .325 with 4 HR and 8 RBI. That makes two Yankee farm-hands performing well enough to keep starting positions. Anyone else? Brett Gardner's not off to an all-star start, but he does have 5 steals and 3 doubles. Cashman, pay attention! Use your resources...don't trade them away.

In a postgame news conference, Girardi repeatedly (and sometimes heatedly) refused to reveal what was said in the meeting, although the gist of the discussion was obvious: the can’t-lose Yankees have been losing.
