How ‘bout that?

How about Luke Scott?  In just 170 at-bats, Scott has hit 14 home runs and is tied for 14th in long balls among American Leaguers.  Though he is not on the official list of league leaders because of a stint on the 15-day DL, Scott is slugging nearly .600 and if he had enough at-bats to be eligible, he would be ahead of the likes of Justin Morneau, Jason Bay, and Carlos Peña – among others - in the A.L.

Luke Scott, who Baltimore received as part of the package for Tejada, hit .257 with 23 home runs and 65 RBI’s – nothing spectacular but then again, he’s not in the middle of a $72 million six-year contract.  I’d like to see Scott improve in his second year with the Birds, but considering he’s under the team’s control for four more seasons and the O’s also picked up three pitching prospects from Houston, I’d have to say the Orioles should be pleased with how things have turned out thus far.

erous base-running: Brian Roberts got thrown out by a mile at home, but Mora went first to third on Luke Scott's single and both were safe. Then Millar got a three-run home run to make it 3-0. Ramon Hernandez stepped up to the plate and his 1000th career hit was a solo shot out of Yankee Stadium! Awesome. And props to starter Jeremy Guthrie who retired the first six Yankees.

Jones should succeed in teaming up with fellow outfielders Nick Markakis and Luke Scott to provide some punch to what will otherwise be a listless Orioles offense and give the fans some hope that this rebuilding project has a bright future ahead.
