Bill Belichick, New England Patriot head coach …a Genius???
While calling Bill Belichick a genius seems like a true statement, there was one time, recently, that makes me want to disagree with any statement of such. On December 14, when the Oakland Raiders played the New England Patriots, I had my whole perception of Mr. Belichick blown all to hell. Picture this scenario…4th quarter of the game, New England is up on the Raiders by 29 points with just over 2 minutes left in the game in, what can only be described as a monsoon-type rain storm. The Raiders complete a 4th down play for a 1st down and Genius Belichick disputes the spot of the ball and throws his red “Challenge” flag. Was this really necessary? Belichick’s genius move probably took more time for the officials to look at, discuss the placement, spot and re-measure for the first down (which the Raiders made anyway) than to play the rest of the game. And, again I may point out…this act of a “genius” was made in a monsoon-like rain storm!!! I hope like hell Genius Belichick’s red New England Patriot underwear was drenched when he got back to the locker room in Oakland.
