My feelings about the Raiders on Friday morning after Thursday night's embarrasing loss.

So as I’m slowly pulling covers from my head and gingerly getting out of bed, on the Fri. morning after one of the most embarrassing games a Raiders’ fan could bear to watch, I count my blessings that I’m currently unemployed and don’t have to put up with the barrage of zingers and one-liners I would have to endure at the workplace. How could I ever go into work, to face my co-workers, knowing the Oakland Raiders got their butts handed to them by a division rival that’s, quite frankly, not that much of a better team than the Raiders are? As sarcastic as that may sound, you can see where I’m coming from. Hopefully, the Raiders’ fans of this era will not be subjected to those tried & true Eagles jokes (What do you call 53 people, sitting around a TV, watching the Super Bowl? The Philadelphia Eagles). And as a Raider fan, quite frankly, I’ve had enough…ENOUGH!!! This unimaginative, predictable, bumbling play from a bunch of highly-paid professionals has got to stop. It’s embarrassing to the dedicated Raider fans… embarrassing to the legacy of the Raiders and embarrassing to the NFL. Sure, there are flashes of brilliance every couple of weeks, but it’s getting harder and harder to watch the Raiders, knowing, that at any moment, things could implode…even when you may be leading by 2 scores going into the 4th quarter. The running backs get beaten up because they have to find their own holes instead of the o-line opening some for them. A 4-yard pass when you’re 3rd and 8 does not demonstrate to me the ability to call the right play for such a situation. Poor Zach Miller is constantly getting clobbered in the middle of the field because, for some reason, Jamarcus Russell cannot find the wide receivers. And where’s the ferocious pass rush? Do the Raiders have any legitimate run stoppers? Plus, you know it’s bad when, during the San Diego game, Darren McFadden has more tackles (of player who intercepted the Raider QB) than rushing yards (3 tackles vs. 1 yard of rushing). Now I’m one of those people who stick by the adage of if you have something to complain about, you better be able to suggest a viable solution…otherwise you’re just a complainer. But I have to say that I do not have an answer for what is happening to that supposed football team in Oakland. Offense, defense, special teams, player selection, drafting, coaching, play calling, the front office…it’s too late, this season, for one of the players or the head coach, to call out the players. So, what you do…“gut” the whole Raiders’ organization and start from scratch like an expansion team? I know Al Davis is very dedicated to those loyal to the Raiders but quite frankly, some of these “experts” should be tanning in the sun and drinking daiquiris by the pool instead of running a football team. Week after week, game after game, it gets harder and harder to be a Raiders fan. But, because of the Al Davis comment of “the greatness of the Raiders is in their future,” I have to remain loyal to the Silver & Black. But where in the hell do you start…baby? Honestly…where? Added note…in my previous blog, I made an error and referred to the Broncos QB as “Jake.” It should have been “Jay.”
