In my opinion, the reason a lot of people aren't as knowledgable as they'd like to be (or I'd like them to be, for some, but that's another story) isn't because they don't want to be. It's because they just aren't sure where to look for good information.
There was a time when the only place I went to get sports news was espn.com, and that just isn't helpful enough sometimes, so I thought I'd throw out a few sites that I always go to when I'm looking for certain information.
First off:
OriolesHangout is one of the most knowledgable Oriole sites out there, and is always a good option for O's related news. Their forums are also very well-organized.
This site is the place to go if you are looking for the contract status of any player, manager, or even GM. Very easy to find what you are looking for. Definitely the go-to site when trying to look at player's salaries.
When looking up stats on a player, baseball reference is my go to site. Pretty easy to find all the stats for any player, also a great site to look up box scores from old games, old award winners, all sorts of cool things.
For those of you that love all the little trade rumor nuggets (I'm included in that), MLBTradeRumors is my favorite. He doesn't make stuff up, and only goes off what is actually mentioned by GM's or reporters. Lots of good trade info there, a great site for this time of year as the trade deadline approaches.
I'd love for anyone reading to offer up sites they really like to go to (ahem, baseball or sports related please), in the comments section and I'll throw them out there. Plus, I always want more sites to waste time on.
Also, I'll try to make a post following each game for the rest of the season, with just thoughts on specific big plays, managerial moves, the broadcasters, etc. Again, I'll do that for every game possible, starting tonight with Radhames Liz on the mound against the Blue Jays.
